Who Is Kevin Pepper?
Without the love and support of my family I couldn't do what I do. They are every much a part of my success by just supporting me and this crazy passion I have for photography.
I am also very lucky to have partners that help me do what I do. Sigma Canada, Manfrotto, Panasonic, they have all been great partners of mine for the last five plus years. They have been a big part of my professional life while I have been teaching and leading workshops and tours here in Canada and around the world.
My first love is photographing nature, regardless of the season or weather condition; the Canadian landscape and wildlife are my inspiration. But you will also see other styles of photography in my portfolio. From street photography in Paris to urban exploration of abandoned buildings, I love to capture it all with my camera for my corporate clients and growing personal portfolio.
My images have been used in Canadian Nature Photographer, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario Canada/Ontario 150 initiative, PHOTONews Canada, Photo Technique Magazine, Quebecor Media, The Weather Network, Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism, and National Geographic Online. To date my work has also been used by companies such as the City of Cambridge, Panasonic, Olympus, Sigma, Manfrotto, GORE Mutual, TVO and African Lion Safari.
I get asked all the time, "What makes a good photo"? My answer is always, "In my opinion a good photograph is one that evokes some kind of emotion. So many people get hung up on composition rules that they are bombarded with online, they forget to personally connect with their subject matter in order to tell a story of what they were seeing at that very moment with their image."
Thats what I try and empathize on my workshops... You see, taking photos is something that I love to do, but more than taking photos, what adds to my continued amazement and fuels my love of photography is guiding people and helping them. Watching the smiles and hearing the excitement in people’s voices that are seeing something for their first time. Something that I helped them connect with on an emotional level, thats what makes what I do special and keeps me out in the field.
